CALL FOR PROPOSALS
New Mexico Literary Arts collaborates with Cut+Paste Society on a second annual series of workshops called Writing as Medicine.
We will offer 3 affordable innovative writing workshops in Santa Fe that culminate in a final event/reading/exhibit in September.
How can we use writing in combination with other disciplines to explore how we unleash or sit with the difficult, wild, and the unknown? We invite writers, dancers, healers, shamans, social workers, dancers, musicians, filmmakers, and other creative types to propose a workshop.
Goals:
• broach the difficult topics: race, gender, intimacy, immigration, water, violence...in unexpected and playful ways
• serve a diverse range of participants (in age, ethnicity, interest)
• engage new people to write through other activities.
Guidelines:
• workshops take place between June-September 2015
• workshops are one-time only and can be 2-6 hrs long (you choose)
• mix writing–poetry, fiction, memoir, monologue...– with whatever discipline that excites you –letterpress, theatre, radio, sound,
meditation, social practice, printmaking, intuitive painting, movement, hiking….
• you choose size of class (12-25 people??)
• students 18 and under will need to sign a release
• workshops will cost sliding scale $10-$25, scholarships available
• collaborations are welcome, although we can only compensate $200/workshop.
We will provide:
• $200 per workshop for workshops leader(s) (any materials needed would come out of this)
• we'll add it to the Fall New Mexico Literary Arts Calendar which includes Poetry Gratitude Awards and fundraiser event.
• we’ll help find a location
• we will handle pre-registration
• provide light refreshments for the workshop
• press releases and getting the word out
How to apply: Deadline May 15th

• title and description of the workshop
